The Brahmin Society North London

THE BRAHMINS SOCIETY NORTH LONDON

It was in November 1973 when a few Brahmin friends who used to meet regularly in the city of London that an idea of forming a Society for Brahmins was concieved.

Late Naranbhai Rawal and Batukbhai Trivedi and others arranged a meeting at a West Finchley Scout Hall. Nearly 150 Brahmin Members were present and a resolution was passed to form an association of Brahmin members in London.

Many meetings were held to establish how many Brahmins lived in London. A telephone directory was used to find names and addresses and house to house calls were made to promote membership.

BARDAI BRAHMIN SAMAJ LONDON

ABOUT US

We are the descendants of those who lived in the many small towns and villages which encircle the "Bardo" range of mountains near Porbandar, Gujarat. Through time we have become known as "Bardai Brahmins".

The many towns which our ancestors inhabited include "Fatana", "Sodhana", "Rojiwade" and "Advane", but to name a few.

Many have now moved to the large town of Pordander which of course is famous for the birth place of Gandhiji who lead the fight against the British Raj and put an end to its rule.

We must not forget that our home towns are also famous for Sudama the dear friend of Lord Krishna, as well as our own saint, Trikamjibapu who helped put an end to the marriage dowry system in place at that time.
