R. VARADHA THATHA CHARIYAR - IYENGAR

R. Varadha Thathachariar.

Freedom fighter.

 

Varadha Thathachariar took part in the non-cooperation, Salt Satyagraha and Quit India movements. A native of Kancheepuram, he was a schoolmate of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai.

Varadha Thathachariar was a trustee of the Devarajaswamy temple, Kancheepuram, from 1936 to 1961. He was associated with the Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh.

an organisation devoted to alleviating sufferings of people afflicted with leprosy. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Theosophical Society, Adyar here, in 1951.

He was instrumental in getting the railway network extended to Guduvanchery, on the southern outskirts of the city.
